Olympic runners on the other hand have much thinner build and focus their routine around aerobic training.

Addition muscle mass has a negative effect on distance, it's more weight to carry, plus the exxtra muscle require more oxygen to function causing you to max out the cardiovascular system quicker.
Some people just don't have the build for it either. Most track/cross country runners are usually really skinny. The largest kid on the track team at my school weights less than 180. The more I bulk up with the muscle, which I've been doing, the more I have to work on my running.

Who is chasing me for a mile?

I think I would rather just stand my ground and get my a** kicked before I am out of breath for trying to run away.

soph/jr years in high school it was a 6ish min mile.
ran 1.5-3 miles every morning before school

sr year i was a gym rat, dropped weight all that good stuff, and ran 5:15 mile

i stayed in the 5:15-6:15 range for a couple years til i blew my knee out....

now i dont/cant run.
knee swells up... lots of pain, its no good

i can do 100 yards, i can run a guy down on a pb field... so that works

O.K. I have tested that now.

Im 33 years old, having weight 65 Kg (130 lb?), some breathing troubles (asthma, allergy), but I think that Im in pretty good shape - commonly Im running ~45 minutes 2-3 times per week. Im running near secondary roads, even near roads on plains, in terrain field/forest paths - in hills, from hills... Im able to stay on 155-160 bpm confortably for the whole time.

Sometimes I performing the 12 min Cooper_test where Im able run 2700m, or I running longer than 45 minutes up to 1:30 hour.

The today one mile test was on asphalt, the path was little from hill (goal was simply little below the start) but opposite to wind... I have not idea how fast to run, so I have started with the fastest velocity what I have feeling that I can hold for 1 km or so. On 1000m I was in 4:05... here I began feeling little disconfort but I have thinked that I can still get the mile somehere perhaps little above 6 minutes. But on one mile (1600m) I was in 7:07... and on end I was not able to run further very well.

...the major part of the path (2/3) I was on heart rate 175 bpm - petty high for me... Imho it takes simply a lot of specialised training to have better time.

I mus say that I like the Cooper test better. This looks for me like best way how get infarction...

Same thing for me, really. I've broken both ankles twice each, and have damage to both knees only one of which has been repaired. I sprint just fine, but long distance running murders me. I just do all my cardio in the pool.

5:70 @7800ft four miles from the Pakistan border. Was running with an issued M4 and IBA. (I wish I could've run it without the weapon and armor for record!). I also should note this is my fastest 2 mile time divided by two. I've never just run a mile for time.

Seriously, though, I'd be happy to pull one off under 10 minutes today. I'm out of shape.
Same here. Today I'd be pretty happy if I pulled a 10min time. The years of punishment and injuries certainly took their toll. I think I could still pull around 10 but I'd pay for it in recovery.
