Early Bronco Fans?

So recently I fell in love with the idea of an early Ford Bronco (before 1975 i think). Right now I drive my dad's 2001 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L, stock everything. I love the thing but it isn't mine. Once I'm done with school I want to either work to buy my own or work while building my own.

What I want to do is build something like this (NOT MINE);

Is anyone here also a fan? Have one yourself? Pictures, stories, horror stories? Post them up!

I love the early Broncos.

I bought a pair of them for $1500 canadian peso's once (great deal).

One was a 1966, the other a 1974, they were in need of a rebuild but the one had had a complete 170ci 6 cyl that the guy figured would be fairly easy to get running again, 3 on the tree baby!

The other had the drivetrain pulled out. One had a set of fibreglass fenders and they both had usable sheet metal that wasent all cancered out. The frames were in great shape too, there was a near new hardtop on one as well.

I was gonna get the one running again and use it as daily driver for a while and the other one was going to be a project. I was gonna put a 302 or possibly something better in it and do it up as a real nice legit off road rig, then start working on the other and turn it into a real nice looker of a ride like the one picture you posted there.

I had no where to put them though... My dad had a large shop on 3 acres, my cousin had his '58 Chev out back for a number of years...

I went to bring a pair of Bronco's there and my parents said I couldent park them on their property (I was 20 years old then).

I was pissed, told them they would be worth money someday (that someday was real ****ing fast too).

I had to get rid of them asap, a buddy of mine offered me $1000 for them and I managed to talk him up to $1100. 3 years later he sold one for $3500 and the other for $2500, he never even turned a wrench on them once. They just sat in his yard.

That really is a horrible horror story. I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

I have grandiose delusions of dropping a diesel into one and making a nice 20ish mpg daily driver. Not having somewhere to work on them is my third biggest problem right now. First and second being no money and no time.

That really is a nice deal though. I'm having trouble finding anything under $5K (for ONE truck at that) in the little bit I've searched. And the ones in the 5-10K range usually dont even run. What happened between you buying your twins and now that the price jumped like that?

I guess the demand for the early Bronco's rose so that brought up the prices.

As odd as it may seem, I think the internet actually drove up prices of collector vehicles...
