This man knows his Scotch!

I'll add MacAllan 12yr which is great for the price but the 18yr is obviously better. MacAllan uses old Cognac barrels which give it a very nice subtle flavor. Oban is top-notch!

Forgive me if you know this already but:

When looking for and selecting a Scotch, take into consideration the region it comes from in Scotland. There are 4 major regions in Scotland which would be: Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and Islay. Since you don't like em' too peaty, stay away from Scotch that comes from the Islay region which are quite pungent. You are probably most suited to the Scotches from the Speyside region which is where Glenfiddich comes from if I'm not mistaken. The Speyside region is kind of a part of the Highland region which is where most popular Scotches come from. The Highland region produces a very flavorful, deep scotch (MacAllan is a Highland Scotch) that you might enjoy. Lowland scotches are much lighter in taste and character.

Using this info helps you get a good idea of what you are buying/trying before you spend your money on it. It sounds like you know your taste profile and what you like. Good luck!

Nah, I just know good people that know their scotch. I just put my trust in them, and keep my powder dry.

Macallan 18, and not the fine oak version. It's quite pricey but well worth it IMHO. I also have Oban 14, Glenfarclas 18, Balvenie 21 PortWood, Macallan 15 fine oak, Macallan 10yo (the one sold in Europe), and a Macallan Elegancia.

The Macallan 18 is the best one I've tried. My favorite blended scotch is Chivas. That's not taking into account Blue Label of course.

Don't know if you live near a Trader Joe's but I remember they used to carry a Macallan 10 bottled in a Trader Joe's label. For $20 you couldn't get a better deal.

Macallan 18 year is yummie but very expensive.
Dalwhinnie is a nice light scotch. One of my favorites.
Lagavulin is peaty and somewhat strong I think.

I'll add in here too. Talisker is worth a try, it's a very distinct single malt.

My friends and I aren't big on scotch, but our field owner was, so last year my buddy picked him up a bottle of scotch. He walked into the store, and asked someone "whats a good scotch".

They guy said Glen Breton, and I just have to say, its good. We all took a shining too it, expensive stuff though. But very smooth. It was in the store as a Scotch, but online information says its a whisky (mostly since its Canadian I suppose), either way it was good.

Glenfiddich is my usual scotch of choice. easy to get and considerably tasty. Truth be told? I usually spend that money on a variety of good liquors, including my favorite tequilas, good gin, rum, rye and bourbon, and various choices of good wine and beer. I have many favorite drinks

I'm a bourbon drinker as well...and I can talk someone's ear off about bourbon, but don't know so much about scotch. I like dewars white label and oban 14 yr.

So, NOT Scotch but a very nice Irish Single malt that you might want to try is Bushnell's single malt, comes in 10 and 16 year verities. I try to always have some in the house.
