I hold a Shodan in Aikido, but never reached it in Kendo, or Iaido. My training in Kendo ended beacause the Sensei stopped teaching it at the time. Kendo was still a blast to do, and it did not have the up and down from your knees that Iaido did.

Ordering my rapier soon for fencing. I've been practicing about a month now and love it. It's good exercise and I get to play with swords. :-)

I have some nice Darkwood rapier/rapier parts for sale... might even consider trades for pump gear.

When did that happen? They are 'pretty much' the top of the line custom maker for Rapiers for the SCA and other WMA groups, I very much doubt the SCA dropped them, you must be thinking of someone else...

I was wrong, the only rule is against their tips.
Messages From The East Kingdom KMoF

But I was told by others in my fencing group to avoid their stuff. They told me the quality is not that good.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the James The Just stuff. I have been practicing with one of his swords that I have borrowed and I like the weight.

I have used various swords from them for years, and know MANY others that have without a problem.

Sounds like bad advise form people that can't afford their swords...

Yeah, well no. The 3 or 4 people that I have gotten advise from had a variety of different manufacturers everything from Triplette, James the Just, Darwood and others. I have tried many different types and am very happy with my choice.

On a different note: Below I'm going to post some pics of the last competition I went to (not competing yet, maybe by the end of the year).

(Yes, this guy had a Viking persona and he put horns on his fencing mask. LOL!)

I used to do SCA fighting but never tried fencing.
What I did was fighting using weapons made out of rattan. Swords, pole arms, great swords, etc.

When I was doing this fencing in the SCA was using foil styles but now I think they are using heavier rapier style fencing swords.

For those in the Ontario, Canada area I used to fight with the Hrogan's
