It's pretty interesting to use different types of base tea for southern-style sweet tea. I tried it once with lapsang souchon, that was pretty interesting.

That looks/sounds fantastic. I bet it's somewhat similar to tieguanyin, only light oxidation.

Depends on the meal. Not being a coffee drinker, I do a hot tea and milk mix in the morning. I can always do a Boba milk tea most any day, but they get expensive. Oolong, jasmine, or a mix of po lei and chrysanthemum mixed together are great at lunch. Usually at dinner we do a jasmine or oolong. I can not argue with a good southern sweet tea either. Since it is so hard to find sweet tea here in California, I usually do an Arnold Palmer (tea and lemonade).

I'm a big tea drinker. my personal favorites right now are a Niagara icewine tea and a blood orange tea both from Victoria Galleries in Niagara on the lake

I really like the tea in your typical chineese buffet resturants. I was always told it was green tea, but I've never been able to get a green tea in the supermarket that tastes like it.

What am I doing wrong?

You want pu-er or pu-erh tea. I think it's classified as a black tea. That's what more of the super chinese places serve. The more expensive varieties come in a cake form. I've seen crazy prices like $100 for a small puck.

Cheaper restaurants use a jasmine-oolong blend.
