Are you planning on shooting matches with it?

not sure if thats a good enough pic, but a free floating hand guard has a piece that goes over the barrel on the receiver end, then the tube screws in over, and its open on the front.

i think a double stage trigger has a stopping point where it takes the slack out of the trigger, and then you put more pressure on it to fire it.

Most AR15`s are more accurate out the box than most shooters are. All the bells and whistles are nice and great fun but are not necessarily needed for a fun gun.

Looks like you need plenty of the guts for the lower. Are you planning on assembling everything yourself. If so you need a vice block and an armorers wrench among other things. Bushmaster has all the needed tools in their catalog.

When it comes to getting your upper together, buying a complete unit can be cheaper than getting one piece meal.

Well, I'll probably be the only one on here to say this and if it seems like heresy to some....oh well

I prefer the Mini14 myself. Yes I said it.

Reasons behind my choice:

1. It's not a "stormtrooper" gun
2. I don't get sucked in with having all the bells and whistles
3. It fires the same .223 rnd as most rifles in the AR platform
4. I like the action
5. I wanted something that is "different" from the current trend
6. I LOVE the A-Team

All those things being said I hope you have fun with this project. ARs are great fun. I'll be shooting one for work here soon enough

Free float handguard: A handguard which does not touch the barrel, increases accuracy. After each shot, the barrel vibrates, a free float handguard lets the barrel vibrate naturally without touching anything. Also, since the barrel isn't touching anything, it isn't influenced (or bent in any direction).

Magazine followers:

Black - original type. prone to tilting and sticking, causing jams and also this phenomenon in which the bullet is pushing INTO the casing because the bolt tries to push the cartridge into the chamber but the cartridge is tiled pointing down into the magazine, thus jamming the mag and pushing the bullet into the cartridge. Doesn't happen often but it does happen every once in a while.

Green- a Marine Corps innovation, better than the black follower, made to correct the mistakes the black ones had.

Anti-tilt, best follower for AR mags. Won't tilt or stick, follower always stays level.

Triggers:

Single stage - trigger breaks in one crisp pull.

Double stage - you pull the trigger half way, takes some of the force out. You can hold it half way, and pull all the way for a lighter pull. I can describe this much better but I'm in a hurry right now.

Hope this helps.
