try to see if any one from this board in japan can get hold of person for you. since they live in that country might be able to get hold guy from address

I have had stuff returned to the USA its usually when the posty is to lazy to deliver, I would try and make contact (because sometimes you forget you have bought stuff, I had a package arrive 4 months after I paid for it, I totally forgot I bought it when it arrived)
and then maybe gift it if you are uncomfortable with reselling it.

they probably opened it, did something dirty to it, took pictures of themselves doing unmentioned dirty thing, repackaged it and sent it back to you via faked postal error. Now they will wait a couple of weeks until they are sure you have opened it and then they will send you the pics of themselves doing unmentioned dirty things to this item that have now touched. Thats what I'd do.

your lucky it came back. a lot of parcels that sit in limbo like that are marked as abandoned.
