Unless you're looking for a bear gun, 'packing a punch' is a very small part of it. Get anything in .380 or bigger, and anyone on the receiving end is likely to change their behaviour very quickly.

It is very light and with any baggy t-shirt it goes unnoticed. ![]() For when I want it to be known that I have a piece I have my Kimber Desert Warrior 1911 .45 ACP with a blackhawk serpa Paddle holster. Both are dead nuts. Practice with those you carry..... Edit: The cannon is for the hairy situations

Well I started off carrying a Para P13 ![]() Good gun very reliable, but found it was hard to conceal most of the time and also wearing it every day it liked to form a coat of rust if I was not careful. (This was my first pistol I got and it was used so it has quite a lot of ware.) Then I did a lot of reading and picked a Walther P99 in 40sw. I liked all of the features it had and it was smaller than the P13. ![]() After carrying it for a wile I found that it just did not fit me and wanted something smaller. (the butt of the grip still stuck out to far and was noticeable, and I missed the 1911 style.) Then picked up a Colt light weight defender. I absolutely love this gun!!! ![]() It is small but packs a punch, it just fits in my hand and points easily for me. But when I was at the gun shop I saw a Glock 27 with night sites, it was small and it's in 40sw. ![]() I liked that it is very flat on the side right side. Some times the defender sticks into your side when you use a in-the-pants holster, witch is the only way to for CC IMO. I never shot a Glock before, but heard nothing but good about them so what the heck. Well they do not point well for me, 1911's when drawn point very level for me. When I draw a Glock the barrel is pointing upwards and has to be compensated after the draw. ![]() As for holsters get a good quality one, had a cheap Uncle Mikes and it was comfy but I wore it out quickly. My P13 came with a Galco ITP, never had a problem with it and I also liked that I could easily re-holster. \![]() Well that is my $.02 worth. Hope you don't mind all the pics. ![]() ~PW Last edited by pwpaintball; 03-12-2010 at 12:36 PM. |

People who tell me any concealable pistol "packs a punch" do not understand the primary drawback of carryable pistols. Even the "great" 45 is pretty anemic as far as firearm rounds go.

Lohman... Sure.. if you want to compare pistol rounds to say a .50 BMG or maybe a 20mm. but for what they are designed for they do the job very well. This thread is about what you carry concealed... there for for 99% of people that will be a pistol. SO folks please continue the discussion of your anemic cartridge fed firearms ![]() E |

When it comes to the caliber, it really doesnt matter IMHO, a good 9mm Hollow Point is going to do more than enough damage to anyone coming at you, only time you may want a larger caliber is in colder weather situations where your threat may be wearing multiple heavy layers of clothing. This is why I like the .40 S&W, it's a great round that packs alot of punch but is still on the smaller side of things. Anyone hit with a .40 S&W is going to know it.

And lets get back to "what" people carry and not "why". The "why" always lead to a long drawn out discussion of things that turns into an argument and gets the thread closed. SO.. again.. concentrate on the "what" you carry. E |
