Man, I really want a PPK now, for multiple reasons. I really like the clean lines, and apparently it's a well made gun (according to reviews). The size also seems right, and .380 seems like a decent round. The one thing that bothers me is the decocker failure earlier S&W PPK's experienced. I assume they fixed that, but I hardly ever use a decocker anyway. I don't trust them... Also, I have to admit, I'm a James Bond fan. |

Sig P232 - I actually like the European mag release (never accidentally bump it) and its a non-Smith copy of the PPK. I came very close to putting a Russian Makarov into this slot instead, but was not satisfied with the sights. PPK, Bersa, P232, Makarov - you can't really go wrong with any of the four. The Bersa and Makarov are far better values really. I chose the Sig but it was as much a want decision as anything else. Things you should note: All of these, being straight blow back designs, have more recoil than you would expect from a 380. Nothing harsh, just more than you would expect. 380 ammo is hard to find right now, at least around here.

If you have to rely on a little metal switch to be safe with a firearm, you will never be able to be safe with a firearm, because you don't have a safe attitude. All 4 rules, all the time. If you can't do that, you're not safe. Personally, I don't like manual safeties, and I don't carry anything that has one. My few pistols that have manual safeties are either "oddities" like my CZ-52, which I only own because I like the round, or target .22s, and I never turn on the safety on a target gun. |

![]() ![]() S&W did a recall to fix that issue, my only question was if it was built to same original specs, how did they get a failure
