I saw part 1 on the big screen last night for their 10 year anniversary. Seeing it in the theatre was worth it. There were a handful of small details, like the gold hammer and sickle on Chekov's DE, that I never noticed before. There was a DVD style featurette afterwards with the cast and some behind-the-scenes stuff.

Poor pacing. etc. It had the novelty of Irish/American vigilanties done in a dark-comedy style. I liked it as another Pulp Fiction derivative. It failed at the box office for the reasons mentioned above, but managed to build up a cult status for its irish novelty value. That was built up and built up, and as is often the case, the sequel not live up to the hype. The sequel is no worse then the original though. Its just the hype that led to the disappointment.

some of my paintball friends were telling me about how awesome the first one was so I watched it myself............It was a pretty ****ty movie tbh.......not particularly funny or original.....i don't understand why it has the cult following it does........... I mean I can see why people like to have Evil Dead marathons b/c they are silly and fun, but I just can't identify with the boondock saints fanboys...... I'm go watch the Goonies.......... |
