Someone decided that the box of books and magazines sitting in the back seat looked enticing, so they smashed out my rear windshield and tried to pull it out. The police called me at 4 a.m. to let me know what had happened.Funny thing is, they thought that maybe I'd had a bad breakup recently, and an ex-girlfriend had thrown the box at my car from the outside. It was pulled halfway out of the back window when they got there and they thought it might be a box of personal items that an ex was "returning" to me. I had to convince them to cross my poor girlfriend off of the suspect list because she was asleep at home at the time, and the box had originated from inside the locked car. I gotta say that its quite a blast to get up at 4am to go talk to the cops, and cut the crap out of your finger while taping plastic over your broken car window because it might snow again (yes, we had snow yesterday...). ![]() Anyway, just wanted to vent since no one up here is awake yet.

Stealing books...wow. I had a car broken into back when I lived in an apartment. I had one of those nifty racing steering wheels so my assumption was that they thought I had a big subwoofer/amp in the trunk. Lucky (I guess) for me I did not. I never fixed the window, just pasted duct tape over it and went on w/ life. |

Thats what you get for keeping 4 years worth of "Swank" in you back seat! In all seriousness though, sorry, hope they find the jerk.

Yeah, sad part is the books weren't worth anything, they were just some old magazines and a book about a company I worked for given to me by my boss. I guess blank boxes look enticing to thieves, I should have known better than to leave it in there I suppose. They should know that a $1500 car isn't going to have a box of expensive things in it though. Oh well, life goes on. Anyone know how much rear glass costs for a 1988 Camry All-Trac sedan?
