to have different "Stigs" would be ludicrous. you want to eliminate as many variables as possible in a test, having different drivers would skew the results. "The Stig" works at the track, knows the track, and even though he might only have one day to drive the car, the principle of learning and driving any car are easy. when you are a professional driver, you will know how to drive the various cars with their own various quarks. AWD/4WDs react the same way, just as FWDs, and RWDs act the way they do, then factor in that just as front engined, mid engined and rear engined cars behave the way they do. by having one driver in a car, you are creating a base result in which to judge all the other results off of. kinda like how they don't compare the Chevy Lisetti lap times to the Kia C'Dee(or whatever it's name is). and a professional driver just doesn't drive one car. just like most paintballers don't have just one gun. so if their main pump is a Sniper, a Piranha or Sterling, are going to shoot just about the same. you could say the same about shooting Egos and then picking up a DP F8. also, for fans of the show, everyone should know that when stars drive, they have their results on one board, but when the professional drivers, like Nigel Mansel, Ruebens Barrichello, not only have the talent to squeeze every last tenth out of the car, but they pick their own lines, as commented on when they review the laps when Clarkson points out the Stigs line versus the the driver's line. so look back at the episode where the team drove at Silverstone. no one says that the Stig can't drive at various races at or around Europe. many american professional drivers also drive in other curcuits. Robbie Gordon anyone(also my choice for the american Stig)? |

while that is true, when its raining, and you have limited amount of time with the cars, the weather is often the one factor that you can't control. every driver wants clear skies, low humidity a mild temps and that sometimes doesn't happen. read up on races at Spa-Francochamps. do not forget, Top Gear has also had a wet lap, then did a flying lap later after the rains and the track had cleared.
