Smith and Wesson bodyguard AUTO - disappointed

I have had money set aside for a S+W bodygaurd auto whey they came out. They have been going to come out since May.

I got my hands on one in the store yesterday - think Ruger LCP with a laser.

The good: Its a nice gun. Feels much more solid than the LCP or Keltec, MUCH more. Built in laser has a flash setting

The bad: IMO the LCP and the Keltec push the boundaries of a true pocket gun. Yeh, I know the Sig P232 and S+W airweights are pocket guns to some people. The bodygaurd is just enough bigger than the LCP that I might as well carry a P232. Compare them to the "true" pocket 22 and 25s and you lived with it just because the bit of size difference was worth 380

In the end it was supposed to be the king of the LCP / Keltec / Micro-eagle niche. Its as high quality as any of them and probably higher than all but the Micro-eagle. Its just big enough to no longer be in the same niche.

well size counts the other way too when you are talking about concealed carry.

CC trumps whining about gun size, his man card is quite safe.

My grandfather always said carrying a 25 is a good way to get yourself killed.

I have a 232 . And a S+W Airweight. I find both of them just a bit too much for concealed carry. I have a Keltec P3AT but it is in failed condition (the piece the hammer spring connects to is broken). Keltec will fix it but I am no longer impressed with it. I was looking for something to replace it.

The thing is - the bodyguard might be of better quality than the Ruger and Keltec but it is not as good as either the P232 or the airweight. Its too big to compete head to head with the Ruger or Keltec, it missed its niche.
