ULTIMATE FIREARMS THREAD! Get your gun fix here!

A Pocket Pistol With Punch: Taurus' .45 ACP PT145

Now that looks pretty darn cool. Small, compact, and 45 ACP? Woa.

EDIT: Manufacturers page: Taurus International Manufacturing Inc

I'm actually looking for a new gun. My current carry gun is having a pin malfunction or issue and keeps popping loose. Grrr.... How the heck to they fit 10 rounds into the magazine of that gun? Interesting. I think my 1911 only holds 7.

Dude... I used to have a small .45 (I think it was called a Mustang or something) and it SUCKED to shoot!

Your 1911 ain't a pocket pistol, but it is fun to shoot (once you fix it)

I would stick with 9mm or lower caliber.

Why would you ever need 10+ shots to defend yourself? You planning to moonlight as a bank guard?

Ah.. no.. sorry. I own a 1911, but that's not my carry.. Just my target shooting gun. I own a Kel-tec for my carry gun.

It's cheap, light, and fits nicely in a holster I had made for it.

Kel-Tec

That's it there.

So I'm looking for something new. Nothing that shoots 100 yards, or is well built, etc, etc. I have other guns for target shooting and what not. I'm looking for basically an Oh S**t gun. Nothing more. Needs to fire when called upon to do so, but I'm not concerned about the accuracy beyond that.

But I agree, the 45 sounds a bit too much... I just came across it in my travels and wondered how they fit all those bullets in there... heh...

Right now I only have a .32, and looking to move up in ranks to 38 or 9mm

What's wrong with your keltech for an Oh Shat gun?

If you want a real shatter for your house, buy a revolver. No mag springs to weaken and no amount of rust will make it stop shooting.

Also, if you are gonna defend yourself with a gun, you are nuts if you do not regularly take it to the range.

Agreed on all counts Drum. And that's the problem with the Keltec... Doesn't truly hold up to lots of shooting at the range. The polymer frame has become loose with my shooting, and the pin that holds the receiver to the frame pops out now. Seriously. Just by cocking it back it can fall out. That's not a good thing to have.

I have a Taurus .22 (and a .25 of the same model) that I used to carry. It was a nifty little gun, lightweight so I forgot it was in my pocket.

Unless you are protecting yourself from a wild animal (nonhuman) you are fine with a .32 (my PPK is my big boy carry gun) and, even with the .22, if your Human assailant is not impressed by that, you are in bigger trouble than even a .45 can solve.

I forget who said it, but the theory is valid;

The .22 in your pocket will always beat the .45/.357 in your bedside table.

I shot one of the Springfield XD's in 40, it was nice to shoot, even with my big hands on a subcompact.

Springfield Armory

Good points Drum

I disagree. The very idea that you have a gun is enough to deter any possibly assailants, and you should most certainly sleep well at night as it rusts away. Just wear a holster with nothing in it, has the same affect. It is the thought that counts...

That being said, and while I know little about firearms, I have always liked the look of the Taurus' (or Taurii? ).

My guess is that the Taurus there must need large hands to hold comfortably. 10 rounds in compact frame must make it wide. I want a 1911 so badly but seeing how there have been like 10 million made over the past century I can't justify paying much for one.
