Systems and components related to generation, transmission, distribution, storage, processing and consumption of electrical energy on large and small scales. Control, protection and reliable operation of the electric grid, hybrid & electric transportation; electrical power systems of vehicles, aircraft and ships; electromechanical actuators, industrial and manufacturing processes requiring electric energy, house appliances, and more.

Is this a solid career? Either looking into maintenance of some big stuff or working on the power grid.
Focus on Controls and You'll be set. Big chemical / refineries need more good IE people.

I am a 5th year Mech. E at Georgia Tech.

Although it looks like I might be going into special effects and prop making instead of Design and Product Development like I originally planned.

No worries of necro posting.

I never originally said that I had a degree in Civil and a minor in Environmental with concentrations in both in Water Treatment and Transport. I did a lot of work in the private industry (consulting) doing land development and utility design and even did a lot of construction inspection and oversight. Now I work for the NY as an Environmental Engineer with the Dept of Environmental Conservation.
