Arguing personal choice is fine when all parties are well informed of the decision they are making. But when you bring new riders into the equation the advice should be safety first as it is a good chance they will crash in their first year.

Just because you don't consider yourself a newb doesn't mean there aren't others reading this topic also. Being that this is a paintball site there could be kids reading this thread and taking the advice given.
Not to pick at details.
Nobody I know crashed in their first year of riding. Including myself, starting with two seasons of racing.
Perhaps it would be better to spend your time advocating proper training?

Don't know the model, but that is an alpine star.

A search of the local classifieds to see how many beginner bikes fell over in their garages would expand your focus group.

And I do advocate for proper training. It just wasn't the topic at hand.

Okay, so I am looking into getting a Shoei RF-1100 for a helmet.

Any recommendations for a jacket in FL heat? I hate the summers here, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Plus the mil. requires me to be in long sleeves...

Something tells me that they weren't wearing a helmet and also didn't get hurt.

IE You brought a pretty bad example to light.

You would have been better off to hold the opinion that falling over in a garage isn't a crash and not mentioned it.

I wear a tourmaster mesh jacket called the intake 2. I know it will not protect me as good as leather or even a real textile jacket, but here in GA it gets mighty hot so I wear it in the summer. It has armor in the back, shoulders and elbows. It has 2 removable liners a rain proof one and a quilted liner. I hardly ever wear the quilted liner, if its that cold I'll wear my other jacket. Going on 2 1/2 season and over 5k miles and its still holding up.
