I bought my wife one when she wanted to start riding and I ended up riding it more than she did.
The SV650 is completely underrated. Its a fantastic beginner bike and it works well for experienced riders as well. As CD mentioned we were just talking about dual sport/adv bikes.

I actually think I've got my mind set on the new '12 Vstrom. It does well on fire roads and great on the street plus the guys on the strom forums are reporting 57-63mpg on their 2012's.

Something to keep in mind for the stunters and thrill seekers. The SV line doesn't like to do wheelies. You can pull short ones and be ok but doing them for extended periods will starve the front cylinder of oil. Not good for a happy motor or rider.

I've been looking at SV650's since I first started riding. Solid bikes. I went with a 250 because I wasn't sure if it would too much to start with. But yes, the full fairing models (SV650SF) are really nice, but the naked bikes look just as good! The half fairing models (SV650S) look weird.

Trust me it isn't too much to start with they list them around 73 hp they are very nimble even with my fat butt on one...I would recommend what ever bike that you go with have your local shop help to properly set the sag on the suspension for your weight. Trust me it will make the bike so much more controllable....and greatly improves the handling.

If Ducati made a PROPER Supermoto, I'd be all over it.

I never said I didn't like Aprilia. In terms of sport bikes, I prefer Ducati.

Sweet bike but super high maintenance. I sold my ape awhile back. Boy I sure miss it. What year is it?
