I do like the Iron though, I don't care what the rubs say about sportsters. If not for the XL they wouldn't have their thirsty big twins.

Pretty much decided on putting a single seat on the triumph. Ordering repro fenders to cut down and make it cafe racer style. Going for a old school look with more modern parts for ease of replacement and reliability. Halogen headlight conversion and led turn signals. up turned sport pipes as well.

The Iron is about the only Harley I'd ride. I'm not a huge fan of the chrome cruiser style, and you pay thousands just for the name. If I had a compelling desire to join the Hell's Angels and had to stick with American bikes, I'd take a Victory over a Harley any day. Some are a big blingy for my tastes, but the basic shapes are fantastic. Although next new bike I buy is probably going to be an Enfield Bullet C5 Military. ![]() Aww yeah. The new Triumph Thruxton is pretty bad-*** too: | |

That explains the price discrepancy, still seems harsh even considering the costs of export/duties etc. Those Enfields really are rad. Last I checked they were priced about the same as the Iron down here. Around $7k. I sent out a few more feeler emails today to dealers within a 2hr driving range on the bike I'm after. Hopefully someone bites and gives me a decent OTD quote. I really want to get some riding in beforfe the weather turns. As bad as this drought has been I wouldn't wish a mild winter on anyone. Well, I suppose you can still have mild temps with precipitation eh?

Iron883- 2" rear suspension travel... oww! I dig the Enfield thing until I consider that my '81 KZ440 is worth 41hp and even as a relatively beginner rider, I'm seeing that it's somewhat underpowered for me, and the 500cc Enfield puts out 21hp. Ordering parts to get my $400 67hp '82 XJ650 running again.
