Something like that. But Lord of the Rings also cut a pile of small details or glossed over others to squeeze things into the film time. If they're splitting the Hobbit over two full films then I would guess they're not glossing over parts, and filling in the bits the book just hinted at. (Like drawing on material mentioned in LotR and other of Tolkien's writings.)


Which just feels wrong for the movie to fill stuff in from the book. Isn't it suppose to be the other way around?

OH MAN I cant wait to see this... huge fan of the book (given the original hardcover by my aunt when I was like 8) and always wanted it in a good serious film (especially after the LOTR did so well on film). Super stoked
