Will I be the only one who is sad that the Tolkien books will be mostly wrapped up after these movies are released? I mean there is The Children of Hurin and other Tolkien writings, but those books aren't the same. I really wish Peter Jackson would express interest in doing a movie about the end of the Second Age. I'm sure Tolkien had a decent amount of material on that which could be used for a film. Either way, The Hobbit is going to be amazing. I've never been so pumped up for a movie. |

I personally hate fake 3D because it gives me a headache, and because it's not true 3D. I hate trying to focus on something 2 inches from my face and till have it be out of focus. I hope at least that they don't have crap sticking into your face and it really is like Peter Jackson described as a hole cut in the back of the cinema. 3D is at least mildly tolerable when it resembles a stage set where nothing extends past the front of the stage.

I agree with Jaan 100%. I have been finding that to be true a lot lately...don't know if that is scarier for me, or for Carlos... ![]() ![]() One way or the other, I'm a Tolkien nut, so I'll be anxiously awaiting next December...and the following... |

I don't mind 3d as long as it isn't gratuitous or cheesy. It's the uncalled for "look what we can do" m oments that I hate.

3D is a gimmick, has always been a gimmick, and will always be a gimmick (until they bring out full-immersion holographs), aimed at artificially inflating the price of a movie ticket and A/V technology prices. 2D all the way.

Soggy, you're the man and I miss you. Secondly, me and my roommate have been watching the extended versions of the trilogy for the past week or so. I am foaming at the mouth for the release next year. AhhhhH!
