Or use some TSP. Tri-sodium phosphate... it's what we used at the winery to sterilize/de-color/clean/de-vinegar/etc. hoses, pumps, tanks, barrels, anything. Good stuff...

This may not be the approved method but until I can actually find the tablets or the brush....

1)I rinse mine out with hot water
2)I then fill it about half way, drop in a little soap and shake vigorously
3)Rinse it out a few times
4)Then I dry it out as best I can with a paper towel

It has worked well for me... Of course I have never filled mine with alcoholic beverages... yet...

Freezer

To clean the reservoir, fill it about half full of water, add a few drops of dish soap, close it up with some air inside and shake. Repeat a few times, then do it a few more time with out soap to rinse it out.

To clean the tube, take off the bite valve and stick it under the sink.

To keep mold and other funky stuff from growing inside, store the reservoir in the freezer.

My dad says a thorough fill with Black Velvet usually cleans it.

To dry mine, I bent a wire coat hanger so that it holds it open when I stick it down into the fill neck, then I hang it in the sun.

They also make a drying rack that holds it open the same way

well, i wouldn't recommend TSP, TSP has the nasty habit of permanently scoring/pitting plastics except at the lowest concentations. works wonderfully on glass and steel though

you definitely want to use Campden or Metabisulphate, or failing that a product called Bee Bright

Kilt Fan
Put 4 tablespoons of bleach into a half gallon of water, and shake it vigorously inside the bladder. Open the bite tube and run the mixture through the whole system. Air dry the whole thing as suggested further up.

Camelback makes cleaning kits with brushes included. Any liquid diswashing detergent is pretty basic( as in not acidic) and should be like the bleach with out leaving the odor. I hang mine up inverted and keep a paper towel half in/out of the fill hole. It acts as a wick to draw the little bit of water left in the bottom out and keeps it open to air dry.

Or try a decent tequila.

edit- go with plan B

Of course... but you'de not want to put in that much anyway. Fill it with water and a half teaspoon of powdered TSP. Shake... rinse well. Won't hurt a thing... we sterilize LOTS and LOTS of plastic hoses, plastic containers, buckets, rubber barrel bungs, etc. Works great.
