What would you pay for this car?

352 v8 1958 Thunderbird. Engine ran when parked, then was going to be taken apart to be fixed possibly? So say it doesn't run. Engine parts are in the trunk. Will likely need exhaust work, but the floors and frame are solid.

What would you pay given the chance to buy this bird?

If I had the money, ability, and desire to restore a classic car then I would pay for it. Looks like a solid body that needs some work.

I love old Tbirds, one of my favorite old cars.

Offer $500, maybe a grand. You have alot of work to do just to get it running. That whole engine will have to be taken apart and rebuilt, possibly a little machining work for skim clean up.

Not even talking rust repair yet. How long has it been sitting? It if was parked, chances are trans could be bad or something was wrong with the engine to begine with.

Don't forget about the possible mouse damage that could be waiting for you, such as chewed wires and those little nest.

Later,

it looks like the car could use quarter panels, make sure you look at the cowl, a lot of them trapped leaves and moisture in there and created a rot issue that is not easily fixed

I was bored one night and Amber pulled this up to give me something to look at. Now my minds spinning about this.

I got a phone number, spoke with the dad, it's his young sons car who was given it by the original owner, his grandfather.

Story has it that it's been sitting covered in the barn since the late 60s. I haven't seen it yet, only photos given by email. Grandfather feels it's worth $2800.

I said basically what has been said above to the father who doesn't know much about this car. Son was supposed to call me, then I get an email declining my offer as the son and grandfather feel it's worth at least 2k.

I said with all things considered I don't feel its worth that. He said I'm welcome to come and look at it which is roughly 2 hours away from me but 4 hours round trip only to be turned down isn't worth my time.

I'd say start with 1500 and don't go past 2500... there's some rot there and chances are that even though the floors are solid there will prolly be holes in them anyhow, just, small ones.
