Use the Oxford comma

Comic Illustrates Importance Of Punctuation Mark | Happy Place

Quote:
For the grammatically challenged, an "Oxford comma" refers to the last comma in a list of items, and its usefulness is frequently fought over by people whose idea of "fighting" is a series of verbose, strongly worded Internet comments. But this illustration may make the best case for the Oxford comma yet. Because, as you can see, leaving it out can cause serious confusion. Serious, sexual, confusion.

I don't know if that's correct, logically. My "training" in grammar consists of what I learned years ago, but for the second image to apply, shouldn't there be no comma at all?

So: "We invited the strippers JFK and Stalin."

Think of it in your head this way:

Without the second comma, he's just providing the names of the strippers (JFK and stalin)

With the second comma, he's listing off several things.

With NO commas, its just unreadable PBN stuff.

There's always a comma before "and" when you're listing things.

Depends on how you're taught, and who taught you:

That's lame. I think most either use the proper grammar, or use none at all.

Pick your fights comic guy. Pick your fights.

no it's fine, in that case the comma functions as the colon.

so it is like this:

"we invited the strippers: JFK and Stalin."

your way just makes it ambiguous between the 2 ways.
