I'm guessing that he was either supposed to be on that sortie, or was on the ground in the line of fire that the crew decided to assist with.

Utmost respect and appreciation to all those are or have ever served.

That's what I figure but I'd love to hear his story. Seems to me you get a lot more truth about history from talking to the people who actually lived it.

I'm a history sponge. My grampa was in the Navy in WWII, but he doesn't want to talk about much, and I don't push. My two roomies at work both served in Vietnam, one at a fire base as infantry, the other in the Navy involved in the evacuation of Saigon. I will listen to anything they want to talk about with appreciation.

Well of I'm doing the math right there are 14 people in that memorial photo. Which is a full crew, so he was A

ne of the marines that 03 was protecting and designated the missile battery for or B: he was grounded for some reason that day, but given the title I'm inclined to think its more along the lines of A.
