The police used Force Lightning and he deflected with his light saber. Then he was brought down by a simple tackle.

Portland police arrested a man Wednesday night after they say he used a toy lightsaber to attack people at a Toys R US in Jantzen Beach.

By the time the officers arrived, they said three people had already been assaulted by the 33-year-old man with the toy.

One officer attempted to calm the man down, but he kept swinging the lightsaber and yelling incoherent statements, police said.

The officers then tried to use a Taser on him, but the man managed to break the wires free using the lightsaber.

After the Taser attempts, police were able to tackle him and take him into custody.

The suspect, David Canterbury, was treated for injuries and taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.

Canterbury was placed on a police hold at the hospital and given citations for three counts of fourth-degree assault, one count of third-degree theft, one count of resisting arrest and one count of interfering with a police officer.

He's scheduled to be in court Jan. 11.

I would've liked to have been a fly on the wall after that call.

I have a cousin who 4 Years ago bought a toy lightsaber to school for show&tell. He beat the **** out of this kid for making fun of him. I was in the back of the bus and I hear "I'm going to whoop your ***!" than the chzz chzz woosh! Of the toy lightsaber.

Coolest kid I know.

That 33 year old fellow seems like a cool dude.

clearly, few star wars fans have the physical stamina to swing a light saber around for any length of time much less defeat an attack from a taser afterwards.
