I know no one here on MCB leaves the internet, so this may be old news to some but new to others, thus I present... ThinkGeek :: Tac Bac - Tactical Canned Bacon Delicious bacon, canned, so it has a 10+ year shelf life. Approx. 18 servings per can (1 serving = 3 slices of bacon). Net Wt.: 9oz According to my math thats about 54 slices of bacon in a can! I do understand that the quantity, possibly the quality of this bacon may vary pending what your grocery store and or butcher may stock, but need I remind you those two places may not exist once the zombie apocalypse happens A thorough review ( Warning- Language , if this exceeds any limit of not good language please remove ) Last edited by CanadianBlues; 02-01-2012 at 11:14 PM. |

This is dumb. Why are we canning a SMOKED and BRINED meat. Bacon was invented to prevent pork from going bad. Look at any ham, bacon, sausage or other preserved meat in the grocery store--it has sodium nitrate, AKA bacteria piss in it. A preserved food that remarkably requires additional, artificial preservatives. This is a case of CYA: just so no one could sue them, companies put sodium nitrate, which kills bacteria and anything else with CELLS because it is a cellular toxin, in their already preserved foods. Smoked and salted meats are universal throughout cultures and such meats have hung from the rafters in kitchens since man first began saving food for later. Lets not muck up the original goodness our for fathers found by adding a bunch of preservatives and packing things in metal and plastic. Personally, I'd prefer if my carrots have a little dirt on em. No one likes it, but the best tasting vegetables are grown in the stankiest poop. Also, Tactical Bacon would be a good name for a band. Or a new pump...
