Video editing help....

Hey all,

So I've got some videos of the family and friends taking a trip through the 27 waterfalls in Dominican Republic. I'd like to do up something with Windows Movie Maker, but the problem I'm haveing is the videos loaded onto my Laptop as MPEG-4 (.MP4) files and the Movie Maker take asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv files. Is there a way to change the files or load the videos from my camera to another file type?

And yes, I'm not too keen on these sorta things. In fact, first time.....

Thanks.

Ti

Any avi converter should work. Here are a couple:
Video Converter | Download Video Converter to Convert Video & Audio
Free AVI Converter- AVI Video Converter to convert video to AVI

There pretty simple. Select the file and the program should do the rest.

Yup you just need to convert the codex so you can use it in Windows Media Maker.

I would also suggest getting a better editing program as you should be able to get one for free for PC without much hassle.

I wish WMM would have that fixed. I'd like to give it a go since I've never used it before. That, and every camera I can think of has gone to MP4.

no it's a zip file, it's compressed. someone zipped it to make it smaller so everyone can download it faster.

if your computer can't open it then you'll need something like winrar. it's free too.

once you did that extract the files to somewhere you can keep track of, like maybe the desktop.

then just run the exe.

i just tried it, turns out you don't need to install it, the exe is already the program so just run it is fine.
