Understandable, but that goes to show you the mentality of what UPS has dawned upon its customers, giving them items for better treatment? What makes that fair?

I deal with both the USPS and UPS (and others) on a daily basis as both a consignee and as a shipper.

Just my experience but all shipping companies have about the same success rate. For me it's easily over 99%.

Now that the USPS has adopted a "Zone" system for Priority Mail and has also raised their rates, the differences in pricing between the USPS and UPS has decreased. In fact if the item is going to a Zone 1 territory then it's most likely at least $.60+ cheaper to ship via UPS (to a commercial address).

+ for UPS = Specific delivery date. Trackable versus PM's Delivery Confirmation.

+ for USPS = Free Priority Mail supplies. Saturday P/U and deliveries without an additional fee.

I've never been denied a claim by either USPS or UPS. Although sometimes I've had to repeat the same story multiple times to different people to get some action taken.

Overall, I pretty much trust both.

I really tended to LIKE the UPS drivers. A couple regulars I knew from deliveries to work or my mother's house (she's addicted to QVC) are really nice and quite competent. Then again, the people at the Concord, NH Post Office are really wonderful over all - they were great about my stuff getting up here.

Quality wise, I noticed sometimes with USPS smaller packages or bubble envelopes just vanish into thin air.

Larger UPS boxes seem to get forgotten at the loading dock.... (yes I hold a grudge)

Price wise, I always end up with Priority Mail. I <3 (that's a heart) flat rate boxes. Granted the tracking is NOT exact, and if it is anything valuable I get a bunch of insurance just in case.

It really is six of one half dozen of another when it comes down to it.

UPS is trash. I have a small package that seems to have gotten lost in Quebec coming from the states. It's been there for 12 days according to the tracking number... so I call UPS.

They politely tell me I have to contact the shipper to have them start a trace on my package.

Ok, I'm calling UPS, UPS has my package, UPS delivers it, UPS tracks it, but they cannot help locate the item? WTF is wrong with that picture?

That might have more to do with customs and border crossing...
It's odd, I find the stuff that takes the longest to get through to me tends to be from Canada. Australian stuff ships just fine, as does stuff from the UK. Go figure I guess.

No unfortunatly it's MIA, it cleared into Canada just fine, it just went missing at it's last stop it's a battery for an mp3 player. I can just see the little envelope slipping behind a storage rack or under another box.

I've used both pretty regularly. I actually worked for USPS a couple Christmas' in college.

For the last 6+ years I've worked 3 blocks from my house. I've had enough stuff shipped to me that the UPS guy will first check at work to see if I'm there and then stop down to the house if I'm not. I like that.

You just can't beat flat rate envelopes. A good friend of mine who works for USPS told me that a guy shipped an entire trailer hitch in one once. He had it bent and taped and all, but it qualified.

If I'm shipping something I"m going USPS....but I haven't had trouble with either as of yet.

Hope it all works out for you.
