I'm a genius, why hasn't anyone thought of this before?
You'd have to have some damn good credit for a loan that big

This has been done before. The logistics on it are the risk. I remember watching a piece on a group that did just this. Problem was that they needed to hire people to buy tickets. The result of the amount of tickets being bought was causing the systems to crash. They ended up NOT getting all tickets purchased in time but lucked out and won the prizes.
And with having that many tickets, you not only would win the grand prize but also second, third, etc prizes.

Oh and then there is the issue of getting a loan that size

Because no one can afford or get approved for a $176MM loan. I think your math is off too, its only 1:1 if you are the only person in the bidding pool, no? which is not going to be the case.

I thought 1 in 176 million odds basically meant there are 176 million different number combinations.

Kinda like 1 in 3 odds for picking the ball under the cup

If i'm figuring it right, actual odds would be
1 in 25,333,661,696

Where the hell do they get 1 in 176 million odds at?

I think that's the simplified version of the odds--kinda like how 5 in 25 chance simplifies to 1 in 5 chance, or 50 out of a hundred simplifies to 1 in 2.

Oh i see what you are saying. but you are assuming that you are the only one with the winning number combination. If its spilt, you may be actually not covering your cost base at all.

Edit: I mis-read what you said

thats a crazy amount of money... wow

I went to highschool with a girl, her family ended up winning Lotomax (i think)
was $30 million no taxes taken away. She was all over the news and everything,
worst part of it is they purchased the ticket at a gas station on a street literally
3 minute drive from my home.
