Ottawa Area Roti

I've been on the lookout for a decent roti shop since i moved from Toronto a couple of years back and this place has some good reviews but i was wondering if anyone here has eaten there.

It's called Groovy's Roti Hut

Yes. It's good, and has street cred for being good. I work with a Jamaican lad who makes s mean roti, and he will tell u grip us is good. I have also had some good roti at carribean flavors (IIRC) on montreal road. Going to check out a place on bank near slater next week too.

Thanks Mar, ii'm going to give it a go this sunday.
B-Dazl, it's basically a big unleavened thin piece of bread filled with meat, veg or both.

It's kinda like a gyro if you've had one..but not. Gyro without the runs inducing tzatziki?

Hmmmm... Sound interesting... I wonder if I can get roti anywhere in Salt Lake City??

Is it a Canadian food??

StJimmy666 03-30-2012 01:03 AM

Nope, it's...heh.

Well, it's being advertised as Carribean up there^ but versions of it is also Indian, Malaysian, Indonesian, etc.

Pretty much anywhere you can get curry, you can get it with roti.

*snicker*

Sorry, only one thing better than making fun of Canada and that's Utah!

Roti is an Indian flat bread, traditionally eaten in the Caribbean with a plate of stew goat or curry beef or filled with dal (I.E. dalpuri) or used as a tortilla. An omelet wrapped in a roti makes for a good breakfast burrito.
