Snakes, turtles, and now, baby doves! Mum flew off and I havent seen her in a couple hours now. Getting a little worried about the two chicks she left. They dont look airworthy yet but look like they are very close. I dont see how I didnt hit them last time I mowed just Friday, because they are clearly older than a few days. Worried about them in this sun and heat. ![]() ![]()

I thought this thread was going to be worse... I once "found" a nest of baby bunnies while mowing a lane through a field. They were at that maximum cute stage in which they are just the fluffiest little miniature buns. It was pretty horrible and I was sad for a long time afterword... |

Whatever you do, don't handle the birds. Mom might be against dealing with them if they stink of human.

I brought the one I found in. Just watched a hawk divebomb em and got over there in time to see him defeathering something gray, but larger than them. Pretty sure its mum, and the other is missing.

I have had snakes, frogs both large and small, turtles, salamanders, a pheasant, and mice run while mowing. I chased the mouse, and got him to run back under the mower, where I turned it on and found I had cut the little guy perfectly in half. The weirdest was the spring mow, where the grass is very tall and the rains finally let up. I pass an area right next to the house, in town mine you, and on the second come through, I see the ground pulsing. I turn off the mower, and take a stick and pry up the dirt to find a small nest of bunnies, about 4 or 5 nestled together. Luckily, I didn't hurt any of them, so I left the next an in a few days, they were gone. Could have been a neighborhood cat... | |
