Strangest Product you've been offered?

A door-to-door salesman stopped by my house today offering "lawn insurance". If our grass dies or gets destroyed then we can file a claim to get new grass. I'd say that's pretty high up on the list of "stupid products" I've been offered.

So MCB, what's the weirdest thing someone has tried to sell you?

Girl scout cookies. I never understood how there were so many different flavors of girl scouts or why they would make them into cookies.

Two strange things were "offered" to me during my first tour in Iraq in early 2003.
  • While stopped in downtown Baghdad, we were pulling a 360 security around our vehicles when a Iraqi pimp approached me and pointed across the street to a van. Inside the van was a Iraqi woman waving at me to come over, while also giving "open mouth & hand gestures".

  • Another time, also while pulling security around our vehicles another Iraqi woman came up to us with a baby and a handfull of documents (I assumed to be birth certificates?). Anyway the woman was crying and very upset and wanted us to take her baby.

I kid you not when I was in school for Tool & Die one of my classmates approached me with porn. 1 was Shemale Clown Porn the other was Shemale Midget porn. Claimed he was selling it for a coworker and hadn't looked to closely at the box. . .

Um Yeah. . . Clown Porn, Midget Porn even Midget Clown porn would of been fine but not Shemale Clown or Shemale midget porn that's were I draw the line!

I have one, they work good and are easier to maneuver than a mower with wheels, but it is limited to really flat lawns.

Sounds more like inappropriate timing?

I work for a company that builds software for insurance companies. We are building a platform for a new product aimed at uber-rich folks that they could self-insure. Makes no sense to me.

Seems like it'd push the grass down instead of pulling it up towards the blade like a standard mower.

I believe it pushes the air up, which the curves around and down the inside edge, creating the cushion and pulling the grass up in the center at the same time.

The lever raises and lower the blade - the body still stays the same distance from the ground.

Working great for me on a steep sloped lawn we used the have.
