Picking up the mandolin

I've been playing the mandolin for about a week and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I don't have any previous string instrument experience but I'm picking it up well. Chords, scales, arpeggios, and everything is so easy since it tuned in fifths and it's really easy to find my way around on the fretboard. I have played the piano and drum set for years and am also picking up the sax and some harmonica but I enjoy the mandolin by far the most.

I'm looking to pick up a nice all solid mandolin soon, but they are so damned expensive for a nice one.

Any of you folks play the mandolin?

Tuned in fifths is a lot of fun. I tune my guitar to just straight fifths quite often.

MCB Feedback:

You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field with your head held high, and it doesn't matter that you failed a test, didn't get the girl, or that you got a ticket on the way there... your world is right for the next couple of hours.
