Need help from active Marines... (Simple question).

I am a former Marine. I don't often wear my EGA or any other identifying markings because I think it is a little pretentious.

I am also a bald Marine - so I have to wear some sort of head gear to protect my dome against the sun.

I LOVE my boonie hat - but it is not USMC issue (it is Mil Spec) and it is Tan.

I would not mind wearing my EGA on the front of it - but I don't want to jack it up.

If you are / were an active duty Marine in the last few years and wore a boonie - is the EGA stitched on / Ironed on, or is it a pin?

Do you wear rank on your boonie cover (I am fairly sure you do not)?

Give me the low down so that I don't disrespect the uniform by looking like a soup sandwich.

Thanks,

TF

I hope you get the answer you're looking for but, I know for the cover it is a silk screen (or something similar), I think it's the same for the boonie hat.

Hmm, I don't know how it is with Marine uniform regs, but with Navy regs, I usually google the Navadmin and can find it relatively quickly.

If no one chimes in soon, PM me and I will contact a friend or two (active) and get you an answer.

TF,,,

I am Army but we do have Marines co-located here with us and I see their headgear on a daily... Our PX (AAFES Mafia) here is also a MCX (MCCS) so it has clothing sales...

The EGA is stitched

Here is another source as well : http://www.emarinepx.com/mm5/merchan...egory_Code=OHW

I hope that helps

As with all things, changes and improvements have come along. I remember when the Kevlar was our biggest up grade in the ARMY. Better than the steel pot

The PX/BX/NEX/MCX are all money mills now. I remember when Rustler Jeans were the high end stuff

Later,

i got out in 07 but have tons of friends still in. thought i was one of iron on guys, i didnt get issued a few sets of the new digitals on deployments. the ega are all stiched in, and no you do not wear rank on the cover.

also, not only do they not have to iron their cammies anymore, they are actually instructed not to. NASTY
