Abstract thought of today: The stapler

Think about this. If they were invented today they would be referred to as attachment devices. Each manufacturer would make a slightly different staple and they would be proprietary to each one.

Instead we have devices that were made over many many years and 99% of them are compatible.

Don't speak too soon. They might ban staplers if they figure out it cuts into their profits.

Are we meant to ruminate and postulate on the thoughts provided? Or should we provide our own?

And if they were invented today, staple guns would be called staple markers instead.

I'm just throwing out a couple things that when my mind settles on them it gets stuck. Feel free to post your thoughts on those presented. My mind gets stuck on this like it gets stuck trying to find a balance point between the principle of autonomy and utilitarianism. I'm curious if other people get similarly stuck. Sometimes these things get in my mind and I cannot concentrate on other things for hours at a time.

Ah, I'll partake as well, then!

I wish there was a grading system for keyboard feel. I imagine they'd be judged by "clackiness" but that leaves out several other possibly quantifiable aspects (surface type, surface curvature, press distance to engagement, etc ).

That would be interesting. It amazes me how bad my typing is on someone else's computer, as my macbook has what I imagine to be on the shorter side of reasonable key stroke, which looks sleeker, and (IMO) feels nicer, but I see the benefit of a longer stroke.

I kinda wish I was better at typing, now that I think about it.

There is still a small difference in staples, but more in the heavy duty side of things.
