Cool Anybody into vintage snowmobiles?

Long story short, on my way home for the fourth, I stopped by a garage sale and ended up buying a 1976 Scorpion Range Whip with a 400 Cuyuna. The thing is practically brand new. Track and engine both look like they have less than 500 miles on them, and it even came with all the original manuals, dealer check off sheet, etc. The whole sled looks original, and after a carb cleaning she purrs.

Anyway, I bought it thinking I would use it for ice fishing, but my father is convinced that there is some value in it. My google-fu has not found what they go for, so I was wondering if anyone had a general idea what it's worth? The only blemish on the entire thing is a small crack in the hood and a few cracks in the seat.

Other than that, if anyone has had an experience with them, feel free to share!

I've tried, but XXFETTXX on the boards always makes fun of me...

One of these days, I'm going to show up with a 1970's piece of junk (according to him) and go for a ride... I'll be left in the dust, and will need to tow a mechanic behind me, but I'll have a smile on my face the whole way.

I left it at my brother's place for temporary storage, but I'll see if I can get him to snap a few pictures and send them to me

They have a few vintage rides and show up here.
A friend of mine has been restoring old Polaris sleds just bought another one last week.

Just recently got rid of my old '79 lynx.... I love old sleds. Simple, light and wicked fun to ride!

My dad just recently got into them in the past couple years. Most are works in progress, but he has a Harley, Bolens Diablo Rouge, Jac-Trac (not well known, designer is from our hometown), and Ski Whiz.

He's trying to get me into them as well. Said I could have the Ski Whiz if I fix it up. I'm tempted, but I already spend too much on paintball.

The throttle response leaves more to be desired on this one... Then again that was taking it for a quick spin in the grass last week But once it gets going, it really zips! The thing only weighs about 450lbs before I plop my fat but on it. I do wish the skis were a little wider in the front. It should turn like a champ, but it seems way more prone to tip than the newer sleds I've played around on.

they turn great man, you just gotta get your knee out and lean hard. You aren't going nearly as fast as you do in a new sled but they feel like riding a drag car!
