Same here. If given the choice between a certain good at a local store at Wal-Mart and a certain good at a local independent store, or smaller chain, I'd rather buy from the local store, but I'm not willing to suffer bad service or pay a hideous markup to do so.

There's a local bookstore here, and a small Coles. Both are equidistant from my house and charge the same prices. While I'd prefer to support the small bookstore, just plain sucks. The selection is just terrible. It's not a matter of space, it's half again the size of the Coles. But it's nothing but crap series fiction and hippie living guides.

^ sounds about right. Hell I'll go into a store to hold a product I'm not sure about and turn and around and order it from amazon

I work 6pm to 6am, guess who is open when I get off? guess who is open at midnight on my days/nights off. That is where I tend to go. For durable items, I tend to shop at smaller stores or on the interwebs but that is because walmart doesn't stock many of the things I want.
I b da fat one

If loud pipes save lives imagine what bright pink helmets could do.

Ayup. I work nights as well, so Wally World gets my money.
Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?
