Why do the KU, UK, Duke, and UNC football teams always suck?

Why do the KU, UK, Duke, and UNC football teams always suck?
Why can't the blue blood schools of college basketball run decent football programs?
Please don't say, "in year 19xx or 20xx they had a good season" or "UCLA runs a decent football program." I am not talking about a good year but a good program, and UCLA does not count anymore because they have been in a multidecade basketball slump.

Full disclosure: I am a KU alumni watching my team play unwatchable football with Charlie Weis.

Frankfort has no football love. As long as the Cats beat the Cards at Papa John's stadium, I don't think Cats fans could care less about the rest of the season.

ther is no tradition of football and the schools pander to the programs that put them on the map, i.e. the basketball programs. its not that the schools suck, its that they don't pay attention to other sports so those sports suffer. its real simple.

It must suck being a fan of one of those school. Here, it's hard to decide who to back, what with Florida and Alabama flanking us. Of course, GA has been a sore disappointment in the past few years. Maybe if Richt didn't recruit thugs. Oh well, at least we beat UK. Barely.

I believe there is a solid amount of truth to this. Growing up in Kansas, if you liked basketball then KU was your team of choice. If you liked football, then K-State was your team of choice. To me it seems nation wide that all of the aggie schools typically have good football schools but lately K-State has been rocking the gridiron and court. To me it makes no difference. If the team is from Kansas and they are doing well, then I'm just happy that they are bringing some positive recognition to the state.

Try being a UCONN fan, we didn't even have a program until a few years ago. Also a hoop program is a lot cheaper than a football program.

Its easier to get away with paying basketball players for one year then football players for three

No kidding, I'll never understand why b-ball players will short change themselves of an education. Guess what happens to most pro players after they are done, they go broke. Have an education and you have something to fall back on.
