It DOESN'T fit in the chronology. The Daniel Craig 007 movies are a reboot, a new spin on the classic tale, but they are not meant to fit into the previous movies and they haven't even completely ruled out re-making some of the classics.

Just appreciate them for the really good movies that they are, and enjoy the occasional nod to the originals.

Yup. Bond is more of a timeless symbol then anything, so the setting's specific timeline never bothered me. All I ever felt was important was bond's personal timeline and story.

Saw it and liked it. I was wishing Sean Connery had been cast as Kincade, would have made for an awesome nod to the past. I guess they considered offering him the role, but decided against it.

Hah, indeed!

I thought it was a great film... it really was meant to be in the style of the older (original) films like Dr. No and Goldfinger, where you have action that is not so over the top or excessively unbelievable, a-la Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, or The World is Not Enough (CRAP!!!!).. even some of the earlier Bond Films pushed the limits. While the books certainly put bond into some crazy situations, once you get Hollywood involved things go nuts... that can be fun, but as Skyfall shows, you don't have to go crazy to make an excellent Bond film.

I think they need to make films from some of Raymond Bensons novels (not the film novelizations) "High Time to Kill" and the other two The Union novels would make for good film stories.

Anyways.. I give this film and a

Skyfall is definitely the new life to the series. Craig plays Bond as grittier character. He is not as polished as Connery or Moore. I didn't care for Dalton or Bronson. Everyone always overlooks George Lazerby. I know the spelling is off. I liked how Skyfall came across the screen. The Bond villain was probably one of their best they ever had on the big screen. Made me want to see the the next one in the series. Given the fact, this bond almost didn't get made due to MGM filing for bankruptcy. They hold 1/2 of the rights to the Bond series. I will agree with a number on this thread. Sean Connery should have been Kinkade. That would have been hoot since the Goldfinger DB5 came out of storage and was destroyed hail of bullets and massive fireball.

Spoilers: The plot of Skyfall starts out being The Dark Knight but eventually becomes Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
