Cool compounds
 

I'm doing a science project on compounds and I'm trying to think of a cool but not obvious compound. Any suggestions?

note: Not C02

Polyvinyl. Quite an interesting yet fairly simple compound. If you can get your hands on the precursors (not sure if you can raid a school for it) you can even make some yourself really easily.

An early (failed!) attempt at a synthetic rubber to replace latex during the war.

Sounds like its relatively easy to make too.

iirc it's a mixture, not a solution, so it's probably fit for a "compound"

CaC2- Calcium Carbide (miner's carbide)

When it gets wet it creates acetylene gas. I use it to blacken my sights for high power.
