No gothika was fine with her. That movie could have easily been anyone. Listen to how she delivers her lines as storm . She can't act. At all. As long as she has no lines she's fine. I didn't see cat woman and this is gonna sound racist. I didn't see it cause cat woman wasn't black.

And the reason why people who have read the books say that this bond is the one closest to the books is because Bond is a naturally pissed off guy. The bond in the books, from my understanding, is a pissed off individual with a large chip over his shoulder. I think it had something to do with a dead wife? I think. Well, I know it was due to the death of someone big in his life (not his parents' deaths, but someone else). And he pretty much hates the world almost and is generally angry. Craig's Bond seems to show this more, especially with Quantum of Solace being him trying to get back at those who killed the girl he loved.
Nerd alert:
I am not bragging, but I guess I'm a Bond nerd. So I can probably answer this better than anyone.

I have read all 13 original James Bond-Ian Fleming novels, along with several other authors who continued writing the books after Fleming died-John Gardner, Raymond Benson & recently Jeffrey Deaver.

Many of the plots from the books DIFFER GREATLY from the movies. And the movies were not made in the same order the books were written, however the books often continued where the last one left off or at least makes mention of the previous stories.

However a few plots are the same. In the books it mentions that Bond's parents both died when he was a boy in a rock climbing accident, and he finished growing up as an orphan. He was married in both the book & movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but his wife is killed at the end in both. He also falls in love with Vesper Lynd in both the book & movie of Casino Royale-which she also dies in both.

The cool thing about the original books was that the endings was NOT always a nice happy ending with Bond kissing the girl & roll credits-like the older Bond films. Fleming wrote some good endings. Sometimes the Bond girl died or left him for various reasons or Bond would just be in bad situation in general after completing his mission & Fleming would wrap it up accordingly-but in a cool way.

With an exception of a lack of excessive drinking & smoking cigarettes, which Bond does a lot of in the books, I too think that Daniel Craig is the most like the literary Bond. The book character is just very emotionless at times-very similar to how Craig plays him.

However, Pierce Brosnan did get a couple of stupid scripts to work with-remember the invisible car in Die Another Day?
