Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, this is now mandatory: The 'bad guys' in the movie are F-5's, and I have a slight attraction to that plane. I saw one in person the the museum at Hill AFB in northern UT and they are TINY. Would be very enjoyable to fly one of those. The pecking order on my cool scale is as follows: A-10 SR-71 F-5 |

I'll take an F-4 only if it's the model with the cannon. I don't wanna be stuck with just missles and lose my dogfighting skills.

There's a book called Ladies in Waiting, just a bunch of pics of the Davis-Monthan boneyard. It was written in the early 90's so it's got pics of planes that are no longer there. The most interesting thing in it IMO is a prototype turboprop-powered P-51 built by Piper.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the book that my dad took some pictures for: F-105 Thunderchiefs: A 29-Year Illustrated Operational History, With Individual Accounts of the 103 Surviving Fighter Bombers: W. Howard Plunkett: 9780786408801: Amazon.com: Books He and my dad had worked together before he retired. He had just a few planes left to get pictures of and asked my dad to take them. They were all on the boneyard and that's when I got to go on my self guided tour with dad. |
