4 hours in the ER

My 7 year old had a high fever and chest pains on one side.

1 puke, 6 farts and some advil later we are home and he is perked right back up.

I really only took him because of the chest pains. that was wierd. oh well better safe than sorry!

Hah! I just dealt with that last week with my three year old daughter. She'd been running a fever for a few days after getting sick. She was in a good mood, just had a mid grade fever, so asymptomatic in that we couldn't figure out what was going on and had hoped that there wasn't an infection. Scheduled a doctor visit, she said at her age they can have a fever between 3 and 5 days just to make sure they drink plenty of fluids. After we got home, it was potty time. Poor girl, I thought she was going to pop a vein or worse.

Like mentioned before, sometimes you just have to trust your instincts. So far anytime I felt something was wrong. We would visit the Doctor and get taken care of.

My next door neighbor's little 1 year old girl ran a mild fever last week. She gave her some Tylenol for her nap and then she stop breathing and started having a seizure foaming at the mouth and everything. The ambulance came and 4 hours in the hospital and she came back just fine. These kinds of things just scare the fetch out of us parents. Scary! Good call always go with your gut feeling!
