if your not sure what gun to get. you should see if local gun range has to rent and try out. its always better to try a gun out since you will get feel for the gun when you shot it.

I like my S&W M&P .40. Great ergonomics, light and holds 15 rounds. Got it for under $500 with two mags and it comes with different back straps for different hand sizes.

I love my berettas. I think the army had something like 30,000+ reasons for using them as their issue side arm...

Interesting, since my USP 45 and P7 both eat +P just fine, and it was my understanding that the HK45 is the next version of the USP. Of course, the odds of an off-spec round becoming a true squib go up when you're dealing with +P ammo and I've heard of cheaper +P+ brass fire-forming itself to the flutes on a P7's chamber.

From the USP manual, section 4:

Quote:
NOTE: In compliance with NIJ Standard-0112.00, currently there are no known ammunition types that meet the general guidelines set forth in this section that are not compatible with the USP series pistols. All USPs are approved for use with +P and +P+ ammunition as it applies to the specific caliber. The use of +P and +P+ ammunition accelerates wear and reduces the service life on the component parts of any pistol, including the USP series pistols.

^ I stand corrected on the USP series. I guess he must had bad ammo. The P-series are the one that are restricted though.

^ Calm down there. I still think HKs (and Mercedes) are over hyped though. Don't get your panties on a twist.

Anything can be over hyped by the wrong person. I think Glocks are over hyped by a ton of people.
