Definitely a solid car. I know many people with 3's that are madly in love with them. Is it just the new bulb that's burning both elements at once? if it's the other one you may have a bad switch up on the steering column. Could be short as well, but way less likely. I'm thinking you got a defective bulb.

Just the new bulb, and it's two separate bulbs one for high one for low only the low one needed to be replaced and now if the lights are on that one bulb is on weather I have it on High or low beams, other side doesn't do that.

I love the car it's the hatchback version with the 2.3 and when I do need a replacement a newer one will be on the top of the list of possible replacements. It's just a fun car to drive with decent gas mileage and plenty of storage for paintball trips and work.

I'm lucky, I don't have to pay for bulbs since I make head & tail lamps for a living.

I bought a 2012 Mazda 3 hatch two weeks ago, fantastic cars.

I should definitely keep some spare lights.

I test drove one of the '12 hatch's with standard Tranny, really nice car, didn't feel quite as zippy as the 05 but that could have been me needing to get used to the clutch point on that one. My boss has the 4dr and he loves it.

I bought the model with the Skyactiv engine if that matters, seems to make a noticeable difference. Very fun car to drive!

My truck has trick headlights; they only work when you tilt the steering wheel all the way up. High beams work fine all the time, though.

IIRC, All the new 3's come with the Skyactiv engine and on paper there is no reason what so ever that I remember seeing to support the new ones having any less "zip" other than maybe having a 6 speed instead of a 5 speed and I'm not sure that would do it.

The MazdaSpeed 3 is another animal all together. You loose about 10 mpg but you get 100 more horsepower than the standard model.

I was hoping this thread was about "headlights", like the one in the member's section.
Disappointed.
