I'm curious about the phrase "knowingly possesses or knowingly has under control in a vehicle".

Does a marker in the trunk (on those cars that have trunks) constitute 'possesses or 'under control'? In other words, is it like firearm laws that say you can't have a loaded gun in the passenger cabin (unless you have a concealed carry permit)?

According to the OP, who happens to know a thing or two about the police and the law, he is stating that yes, if it is in your car ANYWHERE, then it is in your control (meaning you can get it when you want), and therefore you would be subject to serious penalties.

Basically, if it goes through, do NOT bring your gun to school be it high school or college.

This law could be very ugly, if it passes. Just imagine some student getting popped for possession of a marker and getting charged with a felony for a marker. That could be on their record forever, and screw them down the road for getting employment. The unintended consequences could seriously hurt.

I assume that most of us break down markers before traveling ( remove barrel, tank, loader, sometimes bolt or more). I wonder how unassembled 'parts' of a marker would fit into something like this. How's it work with firearms?

same as it ever was . . . there is a latin quote that my memory is failing me on but the gist of it is 'we have a law for everything, like a sword in it's sheath'

Isn't that common sense?

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

This proposed law is asinine. This is going to hurt high school and collegiate paintball teams big time. The programs will be killed because they won't be allowed to have markers on campus. Granted games are not held on school grounds but for plenty of high schoolers that drive it is far easier to have your gear in your vehicle then drive to practice. College, most players/students live in dorms or other campus housing because they are no longer living at home. This law was not well thought out and WILL have far reaching consequences similar to the California air soft law that was proposed a couple of years ago.

school teams? is paintball really that big over there? i'd imagine the affected program has to be sizable for their issue to be even considered.

coincidentally archery is completely unaffected, if i'm reading this right.

Archery is a respected sport.

Kee, PE, and Dye need to get their lobbying game down. They are no good at it.
