Badass videos... I'll stick with the snowboard though, bit more forgiving when you wipe out compared to pavement and moving vehicles (two of my siblings have broken bones from longboarding, and countless acquaintances.... compared to snowboarding it's probably three times more likely to mess you up).

Snow a bit more forgiving.... yeah.. but not as forgiving as water Sure I've had some close calls, but I'll stick to body boarding and surfing.

I have to agree with you on this one. I already have gotten plenty of injuries snowboarding (dislocated shoulder, sprained wrist, etc.) but snow is SOO much more forgiving than say a 2 ton pickup...

The gloves don't really help you stop. That is what the sliding is for. All the gloves do is protect your hand so you can set it down on the pavement for stability in a slide. They usually have a puck of some type of plastic attached to the palm, similar to like a hard kneepad.
