I'm amazed at the amount of people who celebrate fat Tuesday and then seem surprised, or don't care, that its Lent.

Mardi Gras is just an excuse to party like you're still in college. 98% of the participants could care less about the religious meaning behind it.

I know and thats fine. I don't mean to make this a religious thread.

I am amazed at the ability we have, as a whole, to seperate the the two (fat Tuesday and Lent). "Ohh... this looks fun we should keep it" and "self-denial is not cool man, let's not have that". All religious signifigance aside this type of attitude worries me.

Nothing wrong with self denial, and anyone who can hold up that commitment through the Lenten (is that a word) period has my utmost respect. I just proscribe to the the idea that life is too short to deny oneself anything.

Edit- And thus, any cause to celebrate (even if I don't necessarily believe in its backstory) is worth doing just that.

That nelspot never needs lube, shoots 2,000 ball per second, never needs reloaded, doesn't require an air source and when the paintball hits somebody the result is the same as if Chuck Norris round house kicked them.
He nick named the gun Reggie.

I'm giving up... ready.... Sugar.

Yup, I'm going hardcore for lent. Now this will be the first lent I've actively participated in. My daughter goes to a Catholic school and she's given up Soda (she doesn't drink any so it's easy for her to give up I suppose). I needed to cut some excess sugar, so I'm going for it. Think of it as a "keto" diet.

It's no different than the amount of people who think "Fat Tuesday" and "Mardi Gras" are two different things.

I always get told: " It's Mardi Gras... and today is Fat Tuesday!"

As if some how, they have two different meanings.

Ah, my non-french speaking friends....

Baby steps I guess.

Want to go to the gym in the morning to help, but what do you guys do with your workout/towels/swimwear while you are at work though?
