Never said they were on the market, but the idea has been floating around for quite a few years... with the idea that a traditional, "physical" system would run parallel in case of electrical failure

That comment was more aimed at a previous statement.... I've been a mechanic for 12 years now, and very aware of how badly engineers want to completely *$&% a car up in the name of progress.
