French Driver can't stop car - runs it out of gas.

French driver trapped for an hour in speeding 125mph car with no brakes | World news | The Guardian

125 miles, two seizures, and a crash later - the French dude managed not to hurt anyone. Brave.

Huh - I would have thought a French made car would have surrendered sooner. ;)

but it did, as soon as it entered belgium, according to the map, because the only one france could ever beat was itself. didn't the french revolution teach you anything?

Hmm, i might need to use that excuse one day. Specially since toyotas are supposed to have sticky accelerators.

I imagine that might be some sort of world record, an hour in speeding car at 125mph lol

Wondering why he just did not turn the key to off position.
Surely the car had a ignition switch....
Way to easy maybe?
Or--he did not have the time to think about it...:ROTFL:

This brings up a few questions. How could a car speed up by using the brakes? Maybe he was using the wrong pedal? And why didn't he shut the car off?

Painthappy 02-15-2013 09:44 AM

Turn off the car (use the key), or put the car in neutral if the key doesn't work for whatever reason.

It seriously can't be that hard to stop a car... I'd rather ruin a car's engine than be killed or kill myself.

It does say it was modified for a disabled person, then it mentions epilepsy. What sort of car mods would be done for someone with epilepsy? I am pretty sure in most places you can't drive if you have had a seizure in a certain number of years. Unless the seizures were unrelated.

Depends on the car. Some cars won't let you turn off the ignition while they're in gear.

In this case, the car was 'adapted for disability', so I'd bet that was the culprit.

Good job him for keeping it under control, despite having two seizures in the process.
